About
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is the oldest and most influential animal-welfare organization in North America, dedicated to preventing cruelty, rescuing animals, and advancing legal protections across the United States. Headquartered in New York City, the ASPCA operates a full-service animal hospital, spay-and-neuter clinics, behavioral rehabilitation centers, and a 24/7 Animal Poison Control Center that serves pet owners and veterinarians nationwide. The organization’s distinctive impact is amplified through strategic partnerships—most notably with the New York Police Department—and a nationwide Field Investigation and Response team that delivers rapid rescue and recovery during disasters. By combining on-ground rescue, community education, and advocacy, the ASPCA remains the nation’s leading voice for animal welfare and a model for nonprofit animal‑rights work.
