The California Independent System Operator (ISO) manages the high-voltage transmission network that carries 80% of California's electricity, ensuring reliable delivery for 30 million residents. As an impartial grid operator, it opens the wholesale market to a diverse set of resources, lowering costs and fostering competition. The ISO provides open, non-discriminatory access to 25,865 circuit-miles of transmission, enabling new generation and storage projects to compete on equal footing.
