The story of Cecelia Health is one born from personal experience and a profound desire to transform the lives of individuals grappling with chronic conditions. It all began with David Weingard, who, at the age of 36 while training for a survival race, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. This life-altering event set him on a new path, not just to manage his own health, but to provide a beacon of hope and support for the wider diabetes community. Inspired by a Certified Diabetes Educator named Cecelia, who empowered him to understand that anything was possible, David launched a company initially named Fit4D. The core mission was clear from the start: to improve and transform the lives of people living with diabetes through a combination of expert clinical coaching and innovative technology. The company recognized that managing a chronic disease was not just about medication, but about continuous support, education, and motivation. In January 2019, in a move to better reflect its foundational inspiration and broader mission, Fit4D rebranded to Cecelia Health. This change honored the pivotal role of health educators like Cecelia and signified the company's evolution beyond a singular focus on diabetes. What started as a specialized diabetes coaching service has blossomed into a comprehensive virtual specialty medical practice.
