About
The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to enabling individuals with physical disabilities to participate in sports. Through grant programs, CAF funds adaptive equipment, training, and competition expenses, and it organizes adaptive sports clinics and mentorship events that foster an inclusive athletic community. Since its founding in 1994, CAF has raised over $178 million and awarded more than 48,000 grants across 105 sports, reaching athletes in all 50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and 70 international countries. By promoting active participation, CAF aims to boost self‑esteem, encourage independence, and improve the overall quality of life for people with disabilities.
