About
In 2013, founder Davis Smith and his wife traveled to Peru where they met and helped feed a child named Edgar. This transformative experience, combined with Smith's upbringing throughout Latin America where he witnessed firsthand the hardship resulting from unequal access to opportunity, sparked the creation of Cotopaxi. He set out to build an outdoor gear brand that was as focused on changing the world as it was on creating high-quality products. Today, Cotopaxi creates innovative outdoor products, apparel, and experiences that fund sustainable poverty relief, move people to do good, and inspire adventure. The company is a Certified B Corporation and a dedicated member of 1% for the Planet, demonstrating its commitment to using business as a force for good. Cotopaxi dedicates 1% of annual revenue to the Cotopaxi Foundation, which supports nonprofits with proven track records of reducing poverty through health care, education, and livelihoods, with a primary focus on Latin America.
