About

Defenders of Wildlife is committed to the protection of all native animals and plants in their natural communities, with a passionate focus on conservation and habitat restoration. Established in 1947, Defenders has become a leading voice for wildlife protection across North America, engaging in proactive advocacy to ensure the survival of endangered and threatened species. By evolving with the challenges presented by climate change and habitat degradation, Defenders employs science-based strategies to engage with policymakers, diverse stakeholders, and the public. Our operations encompass strategic advocacy work on Capitol Hill, impactful legal actions, and innovative grassroots initiatives. Each element of our multifaceted approach is designed to transform policies and practices that affect wildlife and ecosystems. Adopting a collaborative stance, Defenders of Wildlife works to cultivate partnerships with local communities, businesses, and governmental bodies. We actively promote the need for diverse wildlife populations and healthy ecosystems, and we champion solutions that reinforce ecological integrity. Our efforts are steadfast, driven by a mission to restore habitats, protect endangered species, and ensure a thriving environment for future generations of wildlife enthusiasts and naturalists alike.
