In 1902, Annapolis Emergency Hospital was founded in Maryland's capital city, housed in a farmhouse off Duke of Gloucester Street. For over a century, what would become Anne Arundel Medical Center grew to serve the region with dedication and compassion. In 2019, a transformative moment arrived when Doctors Community Medical Center joined forces with Anne Arundel Medical Center, creating Luminis Health - a unified regional health system designed to break down barriers to health and deliver more high-quality care across the region. Today, Luminis Health stands as a nationally recognized nonprofit health system, providing care for 1.5 million people across Anne Arundel County, Prince George's County, the Eastern Shore, and beyond. With more than 700 inpatient beds and nearly 100 sites of care, the health system employs thousands of healthcare professionals, doctors, residents, and fellows who make a meaningful impact every day.
