Established in April 2022, Navantia UK Ltd. is the British subsidiary of the Spanish state-owned shipbuilding giant, Navantia S.A., S.M.E. The parent company, Navantia, boasts a legacy in naval construction that stretches back over 300 years, with its origins tracing to 1717 and the founding of Spain's first modern shipyard, the Real Arsenal de la Carraca. This rich heritage in naval engineering and shipbuilding excellence forms the bedrock upon which Navantia UK is built. A pivotal moment in Navantia UK's journey occurred in January 2025 with the acquisition of Harland & Wolff and its four historic facilities located in Belfast, Appledore, Methil, and Arnish. The company is a prime contractor for the UK Ministry of Defence's Fleet Solid Support (FSS) programme, a £1.6 billion contract awarded in January 2023 to build three crucial support vessels for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
