What began as a passion for storytelling, video games, and animation has evolved into Newscape Studios, a prominent media house entertaining millions. The company's journey started with its founder and CEO, Cory Crater, who began creating content at a young age through machinima and gaming videos. After a stint at the Seattle-based studio Sky Media, he returned to the east coast with a vision to build his own company. In 2016, from a single apartment in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the seeds of Newscape Studios were planted. Initially, it was a humble operation of recording gaming videos with friends. This small-scale endeavor was fueled by a genuine love for creating engaging content for the burgeoning online audience on YouTube. Without any external funding, the company's growth has been entirely organic, a testament to its quality content and understanding of the ever-changing YouTube algorithm. The small team, which included supervisors K Sherretz, Bri Masse, Joe Jowett, and Ryan Stewart, eventually relocated to Austin, Texas, which now serves as the company's primary hub, with another office in Denver, Colorado. This strategic move placed them in vibrant creative and tech cities, allowing for further expansion. Today, Newscape Studios has grown into a team of over 40 employees, a diverse group of animators, illustrators, editors, and content creators. The studio specializes in a variety of content forms, including animation, machinima, gaming, and live-action videos. Their network of YouTube channels has amassed over 16 million subscribers and generated billions of views, with popular channels like GameToons and SCP Animated captivating audiences worldwide. The company's narrative is one of passion, perseverance, and adaptability, showcasing how a small creative project can blossom into a significant player in the new media landscape.
