About
The HALO Trust is the world’s largest humanitarian mine‑clearance organization, dedicated to removing landmines, cluster munitions, IEDs, and other explosive threats from some of the most vulnerable communities worldwide. Founded in 1988 to aid Afghan civilians, the organization now operates in 30 countries with a staff of 7,500, offering services that range from mine clearance and unexploded ordnance disposal to weapons and ammunition management and stockpile security. By creating safe, stable environments, HALO not only protects lives but also generates local employment opportunities for deminers, thereby lifting families out of poverty and fostering long‑term development. As a registered charity and company limited by guarantee, HALO’s global impact is underpinned by a strong commitment to transparency, community partnership, and sustainable peacebuilding.
