In January 2021, Varda Space Industries emerged from a powerful insight: space shouldn't just be a destination for exploration - it could be a production line for Earth. Co-founders Will Bruey, a former SpaceX engineer, and Delian Asparouhov, a venture capitalist, realized that microgravity offered unique conditions for manufacturing products that couldn't be created on our planet. They saw a future where orbiting factories could produce life-saving pharmaceuticals, advanced materials, and other high-value products that would benefit people on Earth. Varda is building the infrastructure to make this vision a reality. The company designs and operates the W-Series - autonomous spacecraft that serve as both microgravity manufacturing facilities and reliable reentry capsules. Their focus begins with pharmaceutical processing, leveraging the unique properties of space to improve drug formulations that are difficult to produce in Earth's gravity. With successful missions already completed and a growing team of aerospace and biotech experts, Varda is accelerating the development of a thriving orbital economy, one capsule at a time.
