We trace our roots back to 1872, when the von Maur family opened its first store in a rented 20-by-50-foot space in Davenport, Iowa. From those humble beginnings, we have grown into one of America's leading family-owned department store chains, with over 30 locations across 15 states. Throughout our history, we have remained true to our founding principles of offering a wide selection of top-brand merchandise, an open and attractive store design, and, most importantly, an unwavering commitment to excellent customer service. We take pride in creating an enjoyable and unique shopping experience for every customer who walks through our doors or visits us online. Our stores are known for their ambiance, often featuring live pianists and a warm, inviting atmosphere. We distinguish ourselves in the retail industry by offering interest-free charge cards, free gift wrapping, and free shipping year-round—amenities that reflect our dedication to putting the customer first. As a fourth-generation family-owned business, we continue to expand our footprint while maintaining the personal touch and integrity that have defined our brand for over 150 years. We also operate the Dry Goods chain, catering to a younger demographic, further diversifying our presence in the retail market.
