The Role:
This is more than just writing code or solving GitHub tickets. You'll work cross-functionally with product, design, and leadership to deliver technology that genuinely improves lives. You'll play a hands-on role in building new tools and refining the user experience across onboarding, loan optimization, savings automation, and ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop robust web features and backend systems using JavaScript, Node.js, and React
- Collaborate with the product and design teams to ship impactful, user-centered solutions
- Participate in system design discussions for upcoming features and platform enhancements
- Troubleshoot edge cases and user-reported bugs using solid database investigation skills
- Conduct thoughtful peer code reviews to promote high-quality code across the team
- Ensure scalability, performance, and best practices are top-of-mind at all stages of development
- 2–5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in production environments
- A strong foundation in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React, and relational databases (eg, Postgres)
- Familiarity with Redux and an appreciation for clean, maintainable, testable code
- Understanding of system design principles and experience working across the full stack
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work well with remote, cross-functional teams
- Interest in fintech, social impact, or tools that remove financial barriers to education
- Exposure to Python, especially in a data-oriented context
- Experience working in startups or mission-driven organizations
- Contract position with competitive monthly pay (totaling approximately $50K–$75K annually)
