POSITION OBJECTIVE: Directly supervises four employees in the Traffic Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university plus five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior supervisor experience preferred.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business correspondence, technical procedures, freight tariffs or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have good skills in MS Office, such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Three to five years of experience with freight routing and rating systems, inventory and manufacturing management software. Prior experience with a warehouse management or other logistics management system is also preferred. Proficiency in SAP is preferred as daily use of SAP may be required in this position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage personnel in Traffic Department. Monitor performance, behavior, coach, counsel, or discipline as needed. Conduct performance appraisals
Negotiate freight rates, discount programs and other programs to control and reduce freight costs and maximize cost and maximize customer satisfaction. Develop and maintain a transportation plan to minimize cost and exceed service levels
Maintain and update routing guide for inbound and outbound movements of freights. Establishing preferred fright lanes were beneficial.
Create and analyze all monthly freight reporting for the division
Able to travel 1-2 times per month to visit with customers to develop solid relationships and partnerships focusing on distribution and logistics efficiencies and solutions

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
Occasionally required to work outside of the office area in the distribution center.
