1000 Mechanical Design Engineer JR / MID

We work directly with different industries including Automotive, Energy, Aeronautics, Banking & Insurance, Telecom & Multimedia, and Rail; offering services ranging from project design development to test/validation, programming, implementation, and manufacturing.
ALTEN Mexico as a subsidiary of the ALTEN Group is currently working with international clients, and we are looking for Mechanical Design Engineers who will contribute to the development of an Iron Air Battery, a large-scale energy storage solution, with detailed design and sustaining engineering for components and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities
- Create and revise 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and engineering releases.
- Develop cost-reduction concepts while maintaining requirements and critical interfaces.
- Perform packaging, tolerance, fit, form, function, and manufacturability assessments.
- Resolve nonconformities and field issues through root-cause analysis and design revision.
- Support design reviews, supplier coordination, prototype evaluation, and validation planning.
Requirements
Must‑Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
- Mechanical component redesign for lower material, tooling, fabrication, and assembly cost.
- Sheet metal, weldments, machined parts, piping/fittings, plastics, fasteners, and tolerance stack-ups.
- 2+ years for junior or 4+ years for mid-level mechanical design assignments.
- Experience in product design from concept through detailed design, verification, release, and production support.
- Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, DFMEA, and engineering change control.
- Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations across design, manufacturing, analysis, suppliers, and customers.
- Hands-on SolidWorks experience is required; provide examples of production-released designs.
English level B2–C1.

- Experience in energy storage systems (e.g., batteries, iron-air technology).
- Familiarity with large-scale mechanical or industrial projects.

- Experience with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems (e.g., TeamCenter, Windchill).

- Experience in design optimization (e.g., topology optimization, weight reduction).

- Understanding of advanced manufacturing processes (e.g., additive manufacturing, CNC machining).
- Knowledge of material selection for extreme environments (e.g., corrosion resistance, high-temperature materials).
