Senior Engineer - Internal Tools

Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Internal Tools Engineer to help drive the development of critical internal tools and automation processes that enhance the operational efficiency of our company. This role will be pivotal in building scalable solutions that will impact various departments, such as finance, sales, and product operations. You will be working closely with internal stakeholders to understand business challenges and deliver tools that streamline operations, with the opportunity for these tools to eventually become core features of our external product offerings.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain internal tools and automations using Python and Django to support business processes such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, lead management, and customer onboarding.

• Collaborate with internal teams (finance, sales, operations) to understand complex business problems, identify automation opportunities, and design technical solutions.

• Write efficient SQL queries to pull and manage data across various business functions.

• Build integrations with third-party services, internal databases, and external systems to automate workflows.

• Work closely with product and other engineering teams to ensure internal tools align with long-term product goals.

• Ensure high-quality code and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and engineering best practices.

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on Python and Django.

• Proven experience in building scalable internal tools or automation frameworks.

• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.

• Ability to understand and translate business problems into technical solutions.

• Experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, lead management, or similar business process workflows.

• Solid understanding of integrating various systems via APIs, data pipelines, and third-party services.

• Familiarity with version control (Git), testing methodologies, and agile development practices.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus Points

• Experience integrating with HubSpot, Pandadoc, Verifiable, and/or Chargebee a plus.

• Experience with other programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, Go, etc.).

• Familiarity with cloud services like AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Previous experience in a startup environment.
