Silverdale Baptist Academy Coaches must understand that athletics is not just a competitive pursuit but a ministry that provides opportunities to develop student-athletes both spiritually and athletically. SBA Coaches are called to foster a culture of excellence, respect, and discipleship while equipping young athletes to grow in their faith, character, and athletic abilities. They must demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and philosophy of Silverdale Baptist Academy, creating an environment that encourages personal growth, teamwork, and spiritual development.
Responsibilities
- Commitment to the Academy’s Philosophy: A deep alignment with the mission and vision of Silverdale Baptist Academy, focusing on developing well-rounded individuals.
- Athletics as Ministry: View coaching as an opportunity to mentor and disciple student-athletes, guiding them in their spiritual journey while building athletic skills.
- Outstanding Interpersonal Skills: Able to build relationships with student-athletes, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive team environment.
- Partnering with Stakeholders: Collaborative mindset to work alongside parents, fellow coaches, and school administration to ensure the success of the program.
- Modeling Good Sportsmanship: Demonstrates respect for opponents, officials, and fans, instilling these values in athletes.
- Has a full understanding and is in agreement with the Statement of Faith of Silverdale Baptist Academy

Additional Responsibilities
Head Coach
- Program Oversight: Develop, coordinate, and lead practice, game, and workout schedules in compliance with TSSAA guidelines, working closely with school administration and other teams in the conference/district.
- Team Leadership: Guide and manage the coaching staff, ensuring alignment with the program’s values and mission.
- Athlete Development: Focus on the physical, spiritual, and character development of each student-athlete as they progress through the program.
- Spiritual Growth: Take an active role in promoting the spiritual growth of student-athletes, integrating faith and biblical principles into the team culture.
- Program Consistency: Ensure that there is consistency in coaching philosophies and practices across all grade levels in the program.
- Team Logistics: Maintain uniforms, order team gear, and ensure that all materials adhere to the school’s standards and guidelines.
Assistant Coach:
- Support Role: Assist the head coach in executing the responsibilities outlined above, attending practices, games, and team-building events.
- Commitment: Be available to commit to all required team events and support the team’s development, both spiritually and athletically.
Athlete Support: Help foster the spiritual, physical, and emotional growth of student-athletes in alignment with the Academy’s core values.
