Sigma Defense is seeking a SOCEUR LNO to support the Office of the Secretary of War for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict / Secretariat for Special Operations; Capability Development & Integration.

This SOCEUR LNO will deliver operationally relevant capabilities to forward Special Operation Force elements. The Liaison Officer ensure requirements are accurately captured, rapidly communicated, and effectively integrated into the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict / Secretariat for Special Operations; Capability Development & Integration's Rapid Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation pipeline.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of prior service experience in Special Operations.
  • Demonstrated operational understanding of Special Operation Forces mission profiles, capability development cycles, and rapid acquisition pathways.
  • Experience operating within a Theater Special Operations Command Leadership, Special Operation Forces component command, or Joint / Combined Headquarters.
  • Ability to translate operational problems into structured Rapid Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation efforts and requirements.
  • Familiarity with Rapid Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation efforts activities, Rapid Prototyping, and Special Operation Force's technology integration.
  • Strong network across United States Special Operations Forces, Allied Special Operations Forces partners, and interagency stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and operate within a geographically dispersed organization.
  • Experience with vetting technology from International Partners, to better understand Material and Non-Material systems, networks, and policies that align to Special Operations Command Europe and the Assistant Secretary of War for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict / Secretariat for Special Operations; Capability Development & Integration strategic priorities.
  • Travel required within The United States European Command Area of Responsibility and Capability Development & Integration Headquarters, test events, and partner-nation engagements up to 25% of the time.

  • Desired Qualifications:
    • Previous Liaison Officer assignments or component / headquarters-level staff experience.
    • Experience supporting Joint - Combined operations in The United States European Command Area of Responsibility.
    • Familiarity with international Special Operations Forces capability development processes and multilateral collaboration mechanisms.
    • Understanding of Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict / Secretariat for Special Operations; Capability Development & Integration mission areas such as unmanned systems; Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance; lethality; survivability; edge computing; and other irregular warfare technologies.

Personnel Clearance Level:

  • Candidate must possess an active TS/SCI clearance, or an active Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Sensitive Compartmented Information.
  • Clearance may be sponsored for the right candidate.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an unspecified field of study.
  • Bachelor's degree requirement may be waived if candidate is currently enrolled/pursuing their Bachelor's degree within academia.

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):

  • Maintain persistent coordination with Special Operations Command Europe Liaison Officer Headquarters, Component Units, and deployed elements to better align mission requirements, operational needs, and emerging capability gaps.
  • Identify and validate problems suitable for Rapid Research & Development and translate them into actionable Requirements.
  • Integrate into unit cycles to capture capability shortfalls early and shape prototype development timelines.
  • Coordinate supported demonstrations, technical evaluations, and field experiments within the European Command Theater.
  • Provide Special Operations Command Europe contextual operational insight to guide technology prioritization, resource allocation, and down-select decisions.
  • Facilitate Special Operations Command Europe participation in studies, prototype testing, and capability development events.
  • Serve as the in-theater conduit for Capability Development & Integration’s International Program engagement with Partner Nations.
  • Maintain awareness of allied and partner Special Operation Forces capability gaps, operational lessons learned, and ongoing innovation efforts relevant to our mission areas.
  • Ensure that broader United States Special Operations Command components receive timely visibility into our initiatives, opportunities, and deliverables.
  • Advise our leadership on theater-specific operational dynamics, threat considerations, and technology employment constraints.
  • Coordinate staffing, information flow, and reporting between our organization and Special Operations Command Europe across Classified and Unclassified channels.
  • Provide weekly situational reports, operational insights, and recommendations to leadership and program managers.
  • Duties will include maintaining relationships between organizations and Partner Nations to support Joint responsibilities to better align authorities and resources to rapidly assess / deliver Joint capabilities and systems to the warfighter.
  • Develop critical insights into Special Operations Command Europe and Capability Development & Integration; Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict / Secretariat for Special Operations Formations that influence irregular warfare capability gaps, enhancing situational awareness, and strategic decision-making.
  • Support cooperative research and development efforts by integrating emerging technologies among allies and partners and coordinating project execution to achieve mission-critical objectives efficiently and effectively.
  • Support major Capability Development & Integration / Special Operations Command Europe international meetings and conferences by representing and understanding requirements and deliverables.

Salary Range: $150,000 - 190,000 annually.
