(1791) Manager - Capital Management, Banking and Other Sectors -PSISD

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • To develop and manage the implementation of operational plans for the section.

  • To manage the output of the capital analyst team responsible for capital related support, the monitoring and reporting of current and emerging risk pertaining to capital management.

  • To lead and manage strategic relationships (stakeholders/clients, within the SARB and external).

  • To manage the delivery of work objectives through resource utilisation, setting of targets, prioritisation of work, and direct other operational activities.

  • To identify and mitigate risks related to own function and ensure compliance with relevant governance frameworks

  • To develop a risk-monitoring framework for the identification, monitoring and management of risks to the banking, financial market infrastructure (FMI), and other sectors;

  • To manage the inputs to the assessment of the macroeconomic environment in collaboration with the Financial Stability department and the detection of the build-up of risks, trends and concentrations in the banking, FMI and other sectors;

  • To provide integrated management information reports on the banking and FMI and other sectors to internal stakeholders and other relevant authorities.

  • To participate on local and international committees or forums such as the Basel Committee and specifically its sub-committees and the relevant working groups.

  • To manage, develop and implement the regulatory and supervisory frameworks, relating to capital management of banks, FMIs and other sectors.

  • To manage the performance of staff and promote as well as support career management and development

Formal Qualifications/Education:

  • A minimum of a post graduate qualification or Honours degree (NQF 8) in Accounting, Economics or Finance degree OR equivalent

Job Related Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Industry, organisational and business awareness knowledge and skill

  • Banking sector, or FMI sector regulations and legislation

  • Understanding of the macro-economic environment

  • Understanding of accounting principles and financial ratios

  • Research methodologies

  • Knowledge in Capital Management within the Banking / or FMI environment

Job Related Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in Capital Management in the Banking / FMI environment

  • A minimum of two to three years’ experience in managing teams
