(1793) Manager - Capital Management, Insurance and Other Sectors -PSISD

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

  • Develop and manage the implementation of operational plans for the section.

  • Manage the output of the capital analyst team responsible for capital-related support, monitoring and reporting of current and emerging risks pertaining to capital management.

  • Lead and manage strategic relationships (stakeholders/clients, within the South African Reserve Bank and externally).

  • Manage the delivery of work objectives by optimising resources, setting targets, prioritising work and directing other operational activities.

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to own function and ensure compliance with relevant governance frameworks.

  • Develop a risk-monitoring framework for the identification, monitoring and management of risks, including climate risk to the insurance and other sectors.

  • Manage inputs to the macroeconomic assessment in collaboration with the Financial Stability Department and identifying emerging risks, trends and concentrations in the insurance and other sectors.

  • Provide integrated management information reports on the insurance and other sectors to internal stakeholders and other relevant authorities.

  • Participate in local and international committees or forums, including the International Association for Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), its subcommittees and the relevant working groups and those related to climate risk.

  • Manage, develop and implement the regulatory and supervisory frameworks relating to capital management of insurers and other sectors.

  • Manage staff performance and support career management and development.

To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:

  • a post graduate qualification (NQF 8) in Accounting, Economics, Finance degree or an equivalent;

  • 8-10 years’ experience in capital management in the insurance environment; and

  • two to three years’ experience in managing teams.
