1st, Quality Tech II, 8HR Quality Assurance Days

Position Description:

The Quality Technician II will support manufacturing operations utilizing Wabash Quality disciplines, processes, and tools with the objective of improving operating performance and ensuring our products meet the customer’s needs and expectations. The Quality Technician will work with the Wabash Quality Philosophies in mind with a focus on risk mitigation, error proofing, and problem solving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Below are examples of the type of duties you could be responsible for:

• Support designated projects and assignments

• Adheres to and promotes the safety objectives of the organization

• Provide leadership and training of the Quality system and problem-solving methods

• Provides direct support to assigned value stream leadership and Tier Teams in creating and assigning actions to improve metrics

• Assist the Operations manufacturing team in improving quality, mistake proofing processes

• Collect data, perform capability studies/reports, interpret charts, analyze data, and solve problems,

• Support a variety of manufacturing operations using various quality tools and techniques such as inspecting, gathering data, containment, problem solving, help implement problem resolutions and follow up on actions.

• Must be willing to work flexible shifts/hours as required

• Conduct Process Audits

• Conduct PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) functional and dimensional trials

• Support disposition of suspect nonconforming material and receiving inspection as required

• Performs other job-related and skilled duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• 5 years manufacturing experience and 2 years of Quality Experience

• 5 years of trailer knowledge is preferred

• Experience with Microsoft applications programs -- Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint

• Competent in basic Mathematics and English

• High School degree or G.E.D equivalent.

• Problem Solving experience preferred (Fishbone, 5 Why, Driver Tree, A3 methodology)

• Understanding of Control plans and PFMEAs

• Proficient in SAP and sharepoint systems

• Understand basic engineering concepts, fit, form, and function

• Must have both good written and verbal communication skills

• Must have analytical skills and be able to exercise independent judgment

• Ability to read and interpret technical data and engineering drawings is required

• Experience reading and using a variety of precision measuring instruments preferred

• Must be able to direct and influence the actions of others within areas of responsibility

• Ability to function under pressure and maintain professionalism

• Ability to interact professionally with management, customers, and suppliers

• Ability to train others individually and in a group setting

Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:

The ideal candidate will have Quality Assurance experience and education or experience related to problem solving and critical thinking. A working knowledge of ISO 9000, SPC, and Lean principles is preferable. In lieu of QA background or training, experience in technical production processes or high tech industries is desired. Computer literacy in Xcel, Word, Office. Post high school training or certificates or College education is a plus.

All employees on the production floor must wear the necessary personal production equipment (PPE).

Physical Demands:

As Quality Assurance Tech, you are regularly required to stand, walk, lean, push, climb, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, handle and operate tools or controls for the length of the entire shift. The employee needs full range of motion in their arms and hands in this position. All Quality Assurance Tech II must be able to successfully communicate with fellow employees as well. Some Quality Assurance Tech II may work in small spaces throughout their shift and frequently lift and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus, along with good hand-eye coordination.
