Role Overview

The Strategy, Solutions & Marketing (SS&M) organization serves as the strategic hub of Group Benefit Solutions (GBS), enabling the successful execution of key initiatives across the business. SS&M plays a critical role in advancing GBS’s priorities by developing differentiated products, delivering impactful marketing, shaping competitive strategies, equipping employees through targeted learning programs, and ensuring disciplined project execution. As a central connector across the enterprise, SS&M facilitates alignment, drives collaboration, and helps position GBS for long-term success.

The SS&M internship is a 10-week program located in our Chattanooga office. Our program provides an opportunity for interns to gain exposure to different areas of expertise to aid in their career search, experience New York Life’s business values and corporate culture, contribute to project work across the organization, and participate in activities to develop and expand their professional skills.

What You’ll Do

As an intern on our Group Benefit Solutions Marketing team, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting a range of marketing initiatives designed to engage our key audiences and advance business priorities. You’ll contribute to integrated marketing campaigns, communications, content development, digital experiences, and other strategic projects while learning how marketing programs move from planning through execution and measurement.

Working alongside members of the Marketing team and cross-functional partners, you’ll have opportunities to build practical marketing skills, contribute ideas, and see how different channels and tactics come together to create effective marketing experiences.

  • Support integrated marketing campaigns and initiatives from planning through execution

  • Assist with the development of marketing content and communications across a variety of channels and audiences

  • Contribute to digital marketing initiatives, including website and social media content

  • Help coordinate marketing projects, timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional stakeholders

  • Partner with internal Marketing team members and other business partners to support key initiatives

  • Work with the Marketing Analytics team to review campaign and channel performance and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Conduct research and help gather insights to inform marketing strategies, content, and programs

  • Assist with additional marketing projects and initiatives as business needs arise

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for a motivated, detail-oriented student who has an interest in marketing, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is eager to learn about the insurance and financial services industry. You should be curious, creative, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining a focus on quality and results.

Required Skills

You must be a rising junior pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university.

Preferred Skills

Successful candidates will demonstrate a combination of foundational marketing knowledge and professional skills that enable them to contribute while continuing to learn and grow. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Familiarity with marketing, communications, social media, or content creation

  • Basic understanding of marketing analytics and performance metrics

  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities

Pay Transparency

Salary range: $21

Overtime eligible: Nonexempt

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

Sales bonus eligible: No

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
