The Internship Program
Our 10-week summer program puts real work of the firm in your hands. You will work alongside brilliant people, gain insights and know-how from our Quanta Academy Summer Term curriculum, and experience what it’s like to work at the pinnacle of global, systematic investing.
Learning is the cornerstone of our culture and plays an active role in the internship experience — through daily collaboration and interaction with employees at all levels, in workshops and classes, and most significantly by working on projects that matter to the many clients we serve. Our unique AQR Quanta Academy: Summer Term learning series, a structured program, consists of over 40 hours of educational, skill-building and networking events.
Your Role
As a Portfolio Finance Intern, you'll work on projects that directly support the firm's financing, clearing, and cash management activities across global markets. Financing Specialists are responsible for optimizing the financing and clearing arrangements of the firm across the various asset classes traded by AQR. They manage cash and cash-equivalent instruments across portfolios, monitor funding and liquidity conditions, and help maintain AQR's critical relationships with some of the largest financial institutions on Wall Street.
Through hands-on projects and collaboration with experienced team members, you'll gain exposure to the financing strategies and operational processes that support AQR's systematic investment platform while developing a deeper understanding of how AQR utilizes the financial resources of our counterparties.
You'll have opportunities to:
- Work with large datasets across a range of asset classes and investment strategies to monitor and optimize AQR’s large financing and clearing footprint
- Develop a working knowledge of the capabilities major financial institutions employ to support the different needs of investment management firms.
- Gain exposure to the investment and management of cash and cash-equivalent instruments across global portfolios under internal and external constraints.
- Collaborate with financing specialists, traders, portfolio managers, researchers, and technologists on projects spanning the investment process.
What You’ll Bring
- December 2027 or Spring 2028 graduate in a quantitative field (e.g. Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, etc.) with a desire to work in the financial services industry
- Pursuing either a Bachelor's or Master's degree
- Strong technical aptitude, programming language fluency is not required, knowledge of Python, SQL, MS Excel is a plus
- Exceptional problem solving and quantitative skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Commitment to intellectual integrity, self-drive, maturity, and ability to collaborate
- Detail-orientation, ability to multi-task
