Your role as a Language Interpreter is to facilitate clear and respectful communication, ensuring that language is never a barrier to access or equity.
  • Provide professional consecutive interpretation services in Kinyarwanda-English, ensuring accurate and culturally sensitive communication.
  • Build strong relationships with families, creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Adapt to schedule changes and on-call duties, promptly responding to interpretation requests.
  • Facilitate seamless communication between families, students, and staff, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
  • Assist with translating essential documents, ensuring equal access to information.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and events to offer interpretation support, promoting inclusivity.
  • Collaborate with staff to address language-related challenges and create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Stay updated on district policies and procedures, ensuring accurate information dissemination to families.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical interpretation practices at all times.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance interpretation skills and cultural awareness.
  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda is mandatory; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
  • Exceptional consecutive interpretation skills with a proven track record of accurate and culturally appropriate communication.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for inclusivity and a desire to help others.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Cultural sensitivity and a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse school community.
  • Previous experience in interpretation or a related field is preferred but not essential.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and adhere to district policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility to work on-call, during school hours, and as needed to meet the district's interpretation requirements.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation, record-keeping, and efficient communication.
  • A positive attitude, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to contributing to a supportive and inclusive school environment.
