2654 Fire Alarm Technician

Summary

Install, service, and repair fire alarm systems in New Zealand, ensuring compliance with local regulations and responding to after-hours callouts.

Fire Security Services (FSS) is a privately owned market leader in fire protection and building compliance across New Zealand. Based in Whangarei branch, this role suits an experienced Alarm Technician who takes pride in quality workmanship, strong customer service and keeping people and property safe.

What you’ll do

- Diagnose, service and repair fire alarm system faults, with occasional minor installation work.

- Take part in a rostered after-hours callout rotation.

- Installation work as and when required.

- Work on common NZ fire alarm systems, including Pertronic, Ampac, MX and aspirating systems such as VESDA.

- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors and the wider FSS team.

What you bring

- 3-5 years’ hands-on experience with fire alarm systems with at least a year working in New Zealand.

- Strong knowledge of NZS 4512, the Building Act and relevant fire alarm compliance requirements.

- NZQA Level 4 in Fire Detection and Alarm Systems, or equivalent experience/working towards.

- A clean, full NZ driver licence and strong problem-solving skills.

- Confidence working at heights, with a clean criminal and driving record.

- Clear technical English and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

- Full-time work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm, plus rostered callout duties.
