Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Machine Room Supervisor for Rotational Molding oversees and coordinates the daily operations of the machine room in a rotational molding facility. This includes managing staff, ensuring machines are operating efficiently, maintaining safety protocols, and ensuring high-quality production standards are met. The Supervisor is responsible for optimizing machine performance, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring that production schedules are met while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and Leadership:

    • Supervise and coordinate the activities of machine operators and technicians in the machine room.
    • Ensure that all staff are properly trained in machine operations, safety protocols, and quality control measures.
    • Monitor employee performance, provide feedback, and assist with problem resolution in real-time.
    • Schedule, assign, and delegate tasks to machine operators and other team members.
    • Maintain a productive, safe, and positive work environment through active engagement and consistent communication with the team.
  • Machine Operation and Maintenance:

    • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of rotational molding machines, including setup, operation, and maintenance.
    • Perform or supervise routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machines to minimize downtime and prevent production delays.
    • Ensure all machines are calibrated and operating within the specified parameters.
    • Monitor machine performance and adjust settings or parameters as needed to ensure product quality and consistency.
  • Production and Quality Control:

    • Ensure that production targets and timelines are met while maintaining high-quality standards.
    • Monitor and inspect product quality throughout the molding process and ensure that any defects or inconsistencies are identified and corrected immediately.
    • Collaborate with the Quality Control team to ensure that all products meet industry standards and customer specifications.
    • Ensure proper documentation of production data, including machine settings, production counts, and quality checks.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Enforce and uphold all safety protocols in the machine room, ensuring compliance with company safety standards and local regulations.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure the machine room and surrounding areas are kept clean, organized, and free of hazards.
    • Train employees on safe machine operation, proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and emergency response procedures.
  • Inventory and Supplies Management:

    • Monitor inventory levels for materials, parts, and tools needed for machine operation and maintenance.
    • Ensure that the machine room is stocked with necessary consumables, such as oils, lubricants, and cleaning materials.
    • Coordinate with the Procurement department to order parts and supplies as required to avoid downtime.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
    • Assist in implementing lean manufacturing principles and other process optimization initiatives.
    • Provide feedback to management on equipment upgrades, staffing needs, and potential improvements in workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • At least 3-5 years of experience in a rotational molding environment or a similar manufacturing setting, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
    • Experience in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of rotational molding machines is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in machine troubleshooting and mechanical repair.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
    • Knowledge of safety standards, OSHA regulations, and best practices in manufacturing environments.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to train and mentor employees on machine operation and safety protocols.

Working Conditions:

  • This position typically operates in a manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels.
  • The role may require standing for extended periods, lifting heavy items (up to [X] pounds), and working with hot or moving equipment.
  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet production deadlines.
