Summary

Installs, maintains, and repairs overhead/underground electrical distribution systems and substations while ensuring safety compliance and public service.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

3rd YEAR APPRENTICE LINEMAN

Education
High School graduate or equivalent is required.

Experience
Three years minimum experience with electrical work in the construction and maintenance of overhead lines, underground systems and substation to include troubleshooting and load balancing.

Job Knowledge
Should have basic knowledge of electricity and its terminology and be familiar with circuits and electric distribution layouts. Should be familiar with Rural Electric Construction Specifications. Should be familiar with the safety rules and regulations in accordance with First Electric Cooperative Corporation, State Labor Department, and OSHA.

Abilities and Skills
Must be capable of performing the essential functions associated with the 3rd Year Apprentice Lineman classification. Must have the ability to use tact in dealing with members, fellow employees and the general public. Must possess a current Class A Commercial Drivers license (CDL). Must have the ability to opeate a computer and/or an electronic tablet. This is a safety sensitive position where the employee holding this position has the responsibility for his/her own safety or other people's safety.

Working Conditions
Work performed primarily outside. Subject to work on weekends, at night and during severe weather conditions. This position subject to residency requirements for "on call" and response purposes. The commute from home to the reporting office must be within 35 minutes.
