Summary

Temporary role assisting patients in a hospital emergency department, handling registration, billing, and administrative tasks while coordinating with medical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and verify personal information accurately.
  • Update and maintain patient records in the hospital system.
  • Process patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
  • Work closely with doctors, nurses and other departments to ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Collect consultation fees, deposits and other payments.
  • Explain billing, subsidies and payment options to patients and their families.
  • Issue receipts and maintain accurate billing records.
  • Support ward class and insurance-related administrative processes.
  • Attend to patient and visitor enquiries at the counter and over the phone.
  • Provide information on waiting times, hospital procedures and services.
  • Ensure service counters and workstations are well maintained and operational.
  • Handle feedback professionally and escalate issues when required.
  • Follow hospital policies, SOPs and service standards.
  • Assist with patient screening and basic vital signs measurement.
  • Guide patients to the appropriate care areas and assist with wayfinding.
  • Provide wheelchair assistance and support patients with self-service registration where required.
  • Educate patients on hospital guidelines, including infection control measures.
  • Support nurses and clinicians with basic patient care and other assigned duties.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies and PDPA requirements.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness exercises and departmental training.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum GCE 'N'/'O' Levels, NITEC, Higher NITEC, Professional Certificate, Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in customer service, patient services, healthcare administration or frontline operations is preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital, clinic or Emergency Department will be an advantage.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer service-oriented with a positive attitude.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and on rotating shifts
