Summary
Temporary role assisting patients in a hospital emergency department, handling registration, billing, and administrative tasks while coordinating with medical staff.
Responsibilities
- Register patients and verify personal information accurately.
- Update and maintain patient records in the hospital system.
- Process patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
- Work closely with doctors, nurses and other departments to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Collect consultation fees, deposits and other payments.
- Explain billing, subsidies and payment options to patients and their families.
- Issue receipts and maintain accurate billing records.
- Support ward class and insurance-related administrative processes.
- Attend to patient and visitor enquiries at the counter and over the phone.
- Provide information on waiting times, hospital procedures and services.
- Ensure service counters and workstations are well maintained and operational.
- Handle feedback professionally and escalate issues when required.
- Follow hospital policies, SOPs and service standards.
- Assist with patient screening and basic vital signs measurement.
- Guide patients to the appropriate care areas and assist with wayfinding.
- Provide wheelchair assistance and support patients with self-service registration where required.
- Educate patients on hospital guidelines, including infection control measures.
- Support nurses and clinicians with basic patient care and other assigned duties.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with hospital policies and PDPA requirements.
- Participate in emergency preparedness exercises and departmental training.
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Minimum GCE 'N'/'O' Levels, NITEC, Higher NITEC, Professional Certificate, Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in customer service, patient services, healthcare administration or frontline operations is preferred.
- Experience in a hospital, clinic or Emergency Department will be an advantage.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer service-oriented with a positive attitude.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and on rotating shifts
