5047 Staff R&D Engineer

Summary


Working out of TAEC’s San Jose Storage Design Center, the selected applicant will work as a member of an R&D team, on Hard Disk Drive related projects. The work environment is project and team based and involves developing leading edge storage technologies and products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, debug, and evaluate various aspects of HDD-related projects.
  • Take ownership of large, moderately complex assignments.
  • Collaborate effectively with members within and outside the core project team.
  • Develop high-quality embedded firmware, participate in peer design reviews, and provide supporting design and evaluation documentation.
  • Analyze HDD performance across various workloads.
  • Communicate effectively and work closely with remote development teams.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of directly applicable engineering experience.
  • Strong fundamentals in relevant HDD technologies.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and assembly language on ARM Cortex platforms.
  • Experience with embedded firmware development.
  • Experience analyzing and improving HDD performance.
  • Familiarity with SATA protocols.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering required; PhD preferred.
Salary Range: $114,300 - $160,000
