Job Overview
The General manager will oversee all aspects of the dealership's daily operations, including but not
limited to staffing, procedures and operational budget and oversees various departments to ensure the profitability of the dealership. The successful candidate will work closely with the Vice President of Sales to develop a roadmap to track the team's progress towards company goals including monthly and yearly sales targets. Must be able to oversee inventory and business operations with a critical eye ensuring the right mix of products and parts. Responsibilities include motivating employees, planning events and promotions, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Assumes responsibility for and is accountable to customer retention goals. Other duties include relationship building with both employees and customers. As the general manager, you also adhere to the policies and procedures set out by corporate, while making sure all employees do the same.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of daily operations
- Recruit, hire and train office staff
- Attend manager calls and meetings and establish good working relationships with corporate, managers, and staff to ensure successful execution of the annual operating plan
Implement growth strategies that align with corporate objectives by assessing profit and loss opportunities - Responsible for maintaining product inventory that meets the market demands
In coordination with corporate, review financial statements, sales or activity reports, or other performance data to measure productivity or goal achievement or to identify areas needing cost reduction or program improvement - Direct administrative activities related to selling products or providing services
- Maintain excellent communication with team members to ensure dealership profitability and customer satisfaction
- Create and maintain a good working relationship with vendors
In coordination with corporate, establish short-term and long-term business objectives and
report back with regular progress updates to ensure success - Maintain expert-level knowledge of all local, state, and federal regulations regarding all aspects of the dealership's business practices and provide any necessary training to personnel regarding these regulations
Job Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3-5 years' experience in Sales Management or General Management in the vehicle dealership
industry - Strong communication skills
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to interpret profit and loss statements are necessary for success
