API Inspector – Rawlins (Parco), WY Apave America Inc. is seeking qualified and safety-focused API Inspectors to support Call-Out operations in Rawlins (Parco), Wyoming. The ideal candidate will possess strong inspection experience in refinery, petrochemical, and industrial environments and demonstrate a commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.



Position Overview:

The API 510/570/653 Inspector will conduct visual examinations of pressure retaining equipment such as tanks, piping, and vessels ensuring their mechanical integrity by performing visual inspections according to established API standards and codes (i.e. 510 for pressure vessels, 570 for piping, and 653 for storage tanks), to identify potential issues, maintaining documented reports of inspection findings, recommend necessary repairs, and certifying compliance with industry regulations.


Conduct Inspections and Assessments

  • Inspect pipelines, pressure vessels, storage tanks, and other critical infrastructure for signs of wear, corrosion, cracks, leaks, or other damage.
  • Perform internal and external inspections based on industry standards like API 510 (pressure vessels), API 570 (piping), or API 653 (storage tanks).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME, ASTM, NFPA, and OSHA).


Required Qualifications

  • Current API Certification(s), including one or more of the following:
    • API 510 – Pressure Vessel Inspector
    • API 570 – Piping Inspector
    • API 653 – Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector
  • Relevant refinery, petrochemical, or industrial inspection experience.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable API codes and industry standards.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, isometrics, and engineering documents.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and inspection reporting software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to pass client-required drug screening, alcohol testing, and background checks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multiple active API certifications.
  • NACE, AMPP, ASNT, or other industry certifications.
  • Experience supporting refinery turnarounds and maintenance programs.
  • Rope access certifications (SPRAT or IRATA) are considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working in refinery or energy-sector facilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and elevated structures.
  • Ability to walk long distances on industrial sites.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Capable of standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching for extended periods.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience working with the 510, 570, and/or 653 certifications required.
  • Minimum of API 510 and 570 certifications are required.
  • Additional API 653 certification will be considered an asset.
  • Certifications in NDT methods (MT/PT/UTT) would be considered an asset.
  • Valid Driver’s License and pre-access drug and alcohol testing required.
  • Pre-employment background checks will be required.


Work Conditions:

  • Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in diverse industrial environments with varying climate conditions
  • Interaction with other crew employees, as well as supervisors, client personnel and a wide range of stakeholders
  • Working in a plant and/or shop area around production machinery with extreme noise levels
  • Work from various levels of heights and/or confined spaces for long periods of time
  • Wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection (PPE)


Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, move, and carry objects weighing 75lbs. or greater
  • Must be able to walk, sit, stand, bend, reach, and climb
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights, including climbing tanks, ladders, scaffolding, towers, piping systems, catwalks, structural steel, and wind turbines
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking and stooping
  • Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time
  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and/or cold
  • Work in and near industrial hazards
  • Must be able to walk and climb except when performing non-field duties
  • Remain consistently active throughout shift
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing and other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to communicate effectively
