A Shift Supervisor (50808)
Summary
Oversee a small manufacturing team, enforce safety, meet production goals, and resolve issues across shifts.
Responsibilities: Utilize personnel and resources in the best possible way; instruct employees in company procedures/policy and expectations, meet production deadlines, decrease errors, devise and enforce safety procedures and processes.
Job Duties
- Oversee hourly employees.
- Work to resolve conflicts consistently and effectively.
- Follow all guidelines (verbal and/or written) as established by the company.
- Ensure that employees work in a safe manner at all times.
- Accomplish manufacturing goals by communicating job expectation, planning, and monitoring and appraising job results.
- Ensures operation of equipment by reporting need for repairs.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge.
- Gauge parts to verify that they meet specification using calipers, micrometers, and other quality approved gauging devises as required.
- Notify Supervisor immediately of any deviation or change in part specs or changes to safety guarding or other safety issues (slips, falls, guarding or hand tool issues, etc.).
- Listen for any sounds that may indicate a malfunction.
- Document all issues with production in order to communicate effectively with other shifts.
- Plans stock inventory by anticipating needs, placing, and expediting orders for stock and verifying receipt of stock.
- Maintain work area is clean, neat, and in an orderly fashion.
Special Circumstances
- Must be available to work flexible hours and on-call hours as required.
- Must be able to work independently as well as in interact skillfully with customers, employees, upper management, and supplies.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds consistently and often.
- Requires standing.
- Requires repetitive movement.
- Required to walk; use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
