ABE Teacher - Conversation Class

JOB ID: 4827 - ABE Teacher - Conversation Classes - Part-time position beginning as soon as possible.

Location: Northfield Community Education Center

Scheduled Hours/Days: Approximately 3 hours/day, one morning per week

Qualifications:
- Current Minnesota K-12 teaching license
- Experience working with adult English language learners
- Strong instructional, communication, and organizational skills
- Commitment to creating a supportive, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds

Pay Rate/Range: 2026-2027 NEA Agreement BA-$57,681 - MA40-$95,320. Base pay DOQ.

Compensation/Benefits/Perks: This position is not eligible for benefits.

Responsibilities:

• - Plan and teach an ABE Conversation Class for adult English language learners at all proficiency levels
  - Develop engaging, practical lessons that help students build speaking, listening, and everyday communication skills
  - Focus on real-life situations, such as communicating with children's teachers, talking with health care providers, shopping, banking, making phone calls, navigating transportation, and communicating with coworkers and community members
  - Use conversation practice, role-play, group activities, and real-world scenarios to help students build confidence
  - Adapt activities and instruction to meet the varied language proficiency levels, interests, and daily needs of students
  - Create a welcoming classroom where students feel comfortable practicing English, asking questions, and learning from one another
