This role manages an assigned employee benefits book of business while delivering responsive, high-quality service to clients.
You will oversee day-to-day account activities, renewals, implementations, and benefits administration while partnering closely with Producers and internal teams.
The position also provides team leadership, directing Account Coordinators and helping maintain strong productivity, accuracy, and service standards.
You will serve as a trusted advocate for clients, coordinating with carriers and stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver effective solutions.
The role combines relationship management, operational oversight, business development, and compliance in a fast-paced environment.
You will also help identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships, improve processes, and expand business.
This is a remote opportunity supporting Eastern and Central time zones, with a strong focus on collaboration, professional growth, and client success.
Accountabilities:
- Manage an assigned portfolio of employee benefits accounts, ensuring service commitments are met, account activities are completed accurately, and potential liability is appropriately managed.
- Deliver exceptional client service by anticipating needs, responding promptly to requests, maintaining clear communication, and strengthening long-term relationships.
- Lead the account team by setting expectations, assigning daily responsibilities, monitoring execution, and recommending corrective actions when necessary.
- Direct and support Account Coordinators to maintain high standards of productivity, quality, accuracy, and service.
- Manage new business implementations, including gathering client information, establishing files, coordinating AOR notifications, obtaining carrier rates, setting up internal services, conducting compliance reviews, and supporting client and employee education.
- Lead the renewal process by validating client information, updating documentation, coordinating with clients and carriers, obtaining renewal rates, conducting audits, and organizing training or client meetings.
- Act as an intermediary and advocate between clients and carriers, working toward effective and mutually beneficial resolutions.
- Identify sales and cross-selling opportunities within the assigned book of business and collaborate with Producers to support growth.
- Recommend and implement value-added solutions that improve the client experience and strengthen benefits programs.
- Maintain transparent, timely communication with Producers, Account Coordinators, clients, carriers, and other internal stakeholders.
- Support team training, professional development, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure account activities comply with applicable policies, procedures, licensing requirements, and industry standards.
- Champion integrity, accountability, collaboration, and a positive team environment while contributing to broader organizational objectives.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in the employee benefits or insurance industry.
- Active, required insurance licensing appropriate for the role.
- Experience managing employee benefits accounts, with exposure to level-funded and self-funded plans.
- Strong client relationship management and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients, carriers, Producers, and internal teams.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including delegating work, coordinating team activities, setting expectations, and supporting employee development.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage high volumes of work while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, including the ability to prioritize competing requests and identify appropriate solutions.
- Ability to manage renewals, new business implementations, client data, carrier interactions, compliance activities, and benefits administration processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Self-motivated, dependable, collaborative, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
- Strong commitment to client service, professional integrity, continuous improvement, and team success.
- Ability to work primarily within Eastern or Central U.S. time zones.
- Ability to maintain a dedicated, distraction-free workspace for remote work; candidates located within applicable proximity to a branch may occasionally be expected to work onsite.
- Expected salary range of $70,000–$90,000 annually, depending on experience, relevant skills, and geographic location.
