Location: Manchester

Working arrangement: Hybrid

About the opportunity

Via is partnering with a growing technology and digital services business to recruit an Account Manager for its SMB customer team in Manchester.

You'll take ownership of a portfolio of around 100 small and medium-sized business customers, building strong relationships, retaining accounts and identifying opportunities to grow revenue through renewals, upselling and cross-selling.

This is a commercially focused account management role, but you don't need to come from a technology background. We're interested in people who know how to manage a portfolio of B2B customers, build relationships with decision-makers and spot opportunities to grow accounts.

You'll work closely with internal sales, service and technical teams to make sure customers receive a great experience while achieving your own revenue and performance targets.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of around 100 SMB customers
  • Build long-term relationships with key customer contacts and decision-makers
  • Understand each customer's business, priorities and commercial needs
  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell additional products and services
  • Manage contract renewals and support customer retention
  • Proactively identify accounts at risk of churn and take action to retain them
  • Lead regular customer service and commercial review meetings
  • Develop account plans and identify opportunities for future growth
  • Have confident commercial conversations around pricing, renewals and additional services
  • Work with internal teams to resolve customer issues
  • Act as an escalation point when customers need additional support
  • Maintain accurate account and pipeline information
  • Achieve individual revenue, retention and performance targets

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone with experience in B2B account management, sales, customer success or customer growth.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience managing your own portfolio of B2B customers
  • A track record of building and maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Experience with renewals, retention, upselling or cross-selling
  • Strong commercial awareness and confidence working towards targets
  • Consultative sales and relationship-management skills
  • Confidence speaking with business owners, senior stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Experience handling objections and challenging customer conversations
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
  • The ability to manage multiple customer relationships at the same time
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities rather than waiting for customers to contact you
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

Previous experience within technology, SaaS, cloud services, telecoms, managed services or IT would be useful, but isn't essential. Strong B2B Account Managers from other industries are encouraged to apply.

Experience using MEDDICC or another structured sales methodology would be beneficial but isn't required.

Why apply?

  • £35,000–£45,000 estimated base salary plus commission/bonus
  • Hybrid working in Manchester
  • 25 days' holiday with the option to buy up to 5 additional days
  • Your birthday off plus an additional celebration day
  • 5 volunteering days
  • Private health insurance
  • Matched pension contributions
  • 4x life assurance
  • Up to 30 days per year working from anywhere, subject to eligibility
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave
  • Electric car scheme
  • 12 days dedicated to personal growth and development
  • Regular company social events
  • Opportunity to develop your career within the technology sector

If you're a commercially minded Account Manager who enjoys building long-term B2B relationships, retaining customers and growing accounts, we'd like to hear from you.
