Account Officer (entry level/NYSC)

Job Summary

The Accounts Officer will support the Finance team in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring proper documentation of financial activities. This is an entry-level role suitable for a recent graduate or someone with limited accounting experience who is eager to build a career in finance and accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Record daily financial transactions accurately and promptly.
  • Prepare payment vouchers, receipts, invoices, and other financial documents.
  • Assist with daily cash and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain proper filing and organization of financial records.
  • Process supplier invoices and assist with payment preparation.
  • Monitor and update accounts receivable and payable records.
  • Assist with petty cash management and reconciliation.
  • Support monthly stock reconciliation where applicable.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and schedules.
  • Ensure all financial documents are complete, accurate, and properly filed.
  • Support payroll preparation and statutory remittances where required.
  • Assist during internal and external audits by providing requested documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
  • Comply with company financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the Finance Manager or Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • NYSC completed or currently serving (where applicable).
  • 0–1 year of accounting or finance experience. Internship or industrial training experience is an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with accounting software is an added advantage.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work in a fast-paced environment.
