Job Summary

  • The AP/AR Specialist ensures timely accurate payment applications and invoices are processed and paid according to our Company policy and that any problems or questions relating to AP/AR are resolved or answered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review invoices for correct vendor, remit address, invoice number and payment amount.

  • Maintain positive relationships with company vendors and branches.

  • Apply lockbox and electronic payment receipts to AR invoices and GL accounts

  • Maintain accurate records of all applications and requests

  • Work with branch offices to resolve unapplied cash and credit balances

  • Work with branch offices to process customer refunds

  • Process write-offs

  • Maintain positive relationships with branch offices and customers

  • Prepare timely month-end closing activities

  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality seamless customer service

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in accounts payable, preferably in the construction or landscaping industry

  • Accounts payable processing skills

  • Understanding of debits and credits

  • Strong data entry skills, reconciliation capabilities and a knack for numbers

  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations

  • Experience producing error free and accurate work.

  • Strong work ethic

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of JD Edwards software a plus

Physical Demands/Requirements:

  • Constant operation of a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, a cell phone, and printers/copiers

  • Position is sedentary; must be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of time.

  • Operates in an office environment and requires in-person presence.

  • Ability to maintain, in your possession at all times, required medications to address any known allergic reactions should they occur.

Work Environment:

  • Work is conducted in a professional office environment, with a collaborative and dynamic team setting and requires in-person presence.

Compensation Pay Range:

$25hr - $27hr
