Accountant

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the monthly close process, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, and assisting with inventory and agricultural cost accounting.

The successful candidate will work closely with operations, purchasing, sales, farming, and management to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and useful for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and accounting records.
• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Prepare financial reports and management schedules.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Maintain organized supporting documentation for financial transactions.

• Support accurate allocation of labor, materials, overhead, and other production costs.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare recurring financial reports and management schedules.
• Assist with monthly financial statement preparation.
• Analyze expenses and identify unusual variances.
• Provide accounting information to management.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, KPI development, and cash-flow reporting.

Compliance & Audit Support

• Assist with federal, state, and local tax-related reporting.
• Support annual financial statement audits and tax return preparation.
• Maintain documentation necessary for internal and external audits.
• Assist with maintaining compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.
