About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and results-driven Accountant to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and financial controls. This role requires a finance professional with strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and hands-on experience with SAP.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, maintaining statutory compliance, supporting management decision-making, and strengthening financial processes and controls across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Develop and present management reports to support business decision-making.
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information and reporting processes.

Ledger & Reconciliation Management

• Manage General Ledger functions and account reconciliations.
• Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies promptly.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis

• Monitor budgets and financial performance against targets.
• Support financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis.
• Provide insights and recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
• Analyze financial trends and business performance indicators.

Compliance & Audit Management

• Ensure timely tax submissions and compliance with statutory requirements.
• Coordinate annual audits and liaise with auditors and regulatory authorities.
• Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and financial regulations.
• Strengthen internal controls and financial governance practices.

SAP & Process Improvement

• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the SAP system.
• Maintain and optimize accounting processes within SAP.
• Support system improvements and financial process enhancements.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reporting accuracy, and internal controls.

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Professional qualifications such as CA Sri Lanka, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent accounting qualification will be highly preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a senior-level capacity.
• Hands-on SAP experience is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting principles, taxation, and statutory compliance requirements.
• Excellent understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines effectively.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
