About the Role

The Borough Lagos is seeking an experienced Accountant to manage financial activities across its restaurant and retail operations. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in POS reconciliation, inventory accounting, cost control, and financial reporting in a high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
• Reconcile daily POS sales across cash, card, and transfer transactions.
• Monitor revenue streams and maintain accurate financial records.
• Conduct internal audits of cash handling, inventory, and operational processes.
• Track inventory movement, cost of goods sold (COGS), wastage, and variances.
• Support stock counts and ensure accurate inventory valuation.
• Process monthly payroll and statutory deductions.
• Manage supplier invoices, payments, and account reconciliations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
• Identify financial leakages, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of accounting experience in a restaurant, supermarket, or retail environment.
• Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, POS reconciliation, and cost control.
• Experience in high-volume, cash-driven business operations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
• High integrity and attention to detail.
• ICAN certification or membership in view is a strong advantage.
