Accounting Assistant

Role: Accounting Assistant
Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team in Sri Lanka and support the financial administration behind our shipping operations. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys accuracy, follows up reliably, and wants to build practical accounting experience in an international business environment.

What would your day at GAC look like?

• Review invoices and support documents to make sure information is complete and accurate before processing.

• Send customer reminders and follow up on outstanding items through our operational system.

• Prepare routine supplier correspondence, including requests for information, reminders, and responses to rejected items.

• Monitor prefunding requests in the operational system and follow up with the person in charge of each port call when needed.

• Build familiarity with the accounting and operational terminology used across our international teams.

Support the accounting team with administrative tasks and other follow-up work as required.

What are we looking for?

• Education: Entry-level accounting qualification, diploma, or undergraduate studies in accounting, finance, or a related field.

• Experience: Around one year of experience in accounting, finance administration, invoicing, or a related support role.

• Technical skills: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and the ability to learn operational and accounting systems.

• Communication skills: Professional English, with the confidence to follow up clearly and politely with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
