Responsibilities

Internship Purpose

Pattern Energy is seeking a motivated Accounting Intern to join our Houston office. This internship will work alongside the Settlements team to gain hands-on experience with the financial and operational activities that support Pattern Energy’s renewable energy portfolio. This internship provides an opportunity to develop practical accounting skills while learning how market activity, energy transactions, and financial reporting come together within a renewable energy company.The intern will support settlements activities, assist with data analysis and reconciliations, and collaborate with Accounting and other business partners.

Internship Accountabilities

• Help research and document processes within the Settlements Accounting team
• Organize supporting documentation for accounting data requests.
• Collaborate with Accounting and cross-functional partners to better understand the financial lifecycle of renewable energy transactions.
• Complete a meaningful summer project and present findings and recommendations at the conclusion of the internship

Through this internship, the Accounting Intern will have the opportunity to:

• Apply classroom accounting concepts to real-world renewable energy transactions.
• Develop practical experience with settlements, reconciliations, invoicing, and financial reporting.
• Gain exposure to the connection between commercial energy activity and Accounting
• Build analytical, Excel, communication, and problem-solving skills while working with an experienced Settlements team.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Required

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
• Foundational understanding of accounting principles
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and financial information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with an interest in developing more advanced analytical skills.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Interest in renewable energy, energy markets, accounting, or financial operations is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

The expected starting pay rate for this role is $26.00 - $28.00 USD/Hour. This range is an estimate and pay may be above or below the ranges based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education.
