Summary

The Accounting Manager leads the accounting function for a plant or business unit, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, compliance, and team development. This role owns the treasury and accounts payable operations for the site — including banking relationships, bank reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and the Esker AP automation platform — and partners closely with operations to align financial practices with business performance goals.

Essential Functions

  • Manage general ledger, financial close, and reporting activities.
  • Ensure accuracy in inventory, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing-related accounting.
  • Oversee banking activity and administration, including account maintenance, user access and authority levels, payment processing, and serving as the primary point of contact for banking partners.
  • Own the bank reconciliation process, ensuring all accounts are reconciled timely and accurately, with review and resolution of outstanding or aged items.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain short- and long-term cash flow projections; analyze variances to forecast and communicate liquidity trends and risks to leadership.
  • Lead the Accounts Payable team, including workload assignment, performance management, and development, while ensuring invoices and payments are processed accurately, on time, and within policy.
  • Serve as system owner and administrator for Esker, including workflow and approval configuration, user setup, exception and error resolution, vendor onboarding support, and driving adoption and automation improvements.
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls across accounting, cash, and disbursement processes, including segregation of duties, payment authorization limits, and SOX compliance where applicable.
  • Oversee audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting.
  • Partner with operations, supply chain, and FP&A to align on business strategy and results.
  • Support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Hire, train, and develop accounting and AP staff, providing mentorship and feedback.
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting, cash management, and AP processes and systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 6–10 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory management.
  • Experience with treasury and cash management activities, including bank reconciliations and cash flow forecasting.
  • Experience managing an Accounts Payable function and working with AP automation or invoice workflow platforms (Esker preferred).
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment required.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a focus on cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel functions.
