The Accounting Manager works closely with the Owner, Leadership Team, and department managers to strengthen Client Cash Management processes, address existing gaps, standardize procedures, and implement practical improvements. The position partners with Compliance on internal controls, monitoring, and audit readiness and collaborates with Accounting and the Chief Financial Officer on reconciliation, general-ledger, and financial-reporting matters.

Position Responsibilities

  • Serve as the process owner for Client Cash Management, with accountability for departmental procedures, cash-record integrity, internal controls, and timely issue resolution.

  • Oversee the end-to-end processing and accounting of incoming and outgoing cash, including contributions, loan repayments, transfers between banks, clearing, and custodial accounts, authorized trading and settlement activity, approved disbursements, returns, and reversals. Ensure transactions are applied to the correct plan or participant and accurately recorded across Broadridge, QuickBooks, bank portals, and related plan records.

  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls, including segregation of duties, dual control, required approvals, independent review, system-access restrictions, and exception escalation.
  • Evaluate current Cash Management workflows and lead the design, documentation, and implementation of improved processes. Maintain departmental procedures, reconciliation standards, performance measures, and management reporting, and monitor whether improvements remain effective.
  • Partner with the Owner, Leadership Team, Compliance, Accounting, the Chief Financial Officer, and other departments to address operational and accounting issues and implement process improvements.
  • Support audits, SOC examinations, compliance reviews, and corrective-action plans by maintaining complete and accurate documentation.
  • Coordinate with banks, custodians, recordkeepers, vendors, and system owners and support system upgrades, testing, automation, and other departmental initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of departmental and organizational objectives.

  • Prior experience as an Accounting Manager or in a comparable role with responsibility for supervising staff and reviewing work.
  • Prior public accounting experience or direct experience in financial services such as banking, treasury, cash management, trust or custody operations, or another regulated financial environment.
  • Strong experience with complex bank and general-ledger reconciliations, financial close processes, internal controls, and audit requirements.
  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyze financial data, investigate discrepancies, and prepare clear management reporting.
  • Strong leadership, analytical judgment, organization, communication, problem-solving, and employee-development skills.
