Accounting Manager

About the Role

The Accounting Manager will oversee and manage the full spectrum of accounting operations to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. This role is pivotal in maintaining the integrity of financial data through meticulous bank reconciliations, job costing, and general accounting practices. The successful candidate will lead the preparation and analysis of balance sheets and other financial statements, providing critical insights to support strategic decision-making. Operating in a home-based capacity within New York, the Accounting Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to streamline accounting processes and enhance system efficiencies. Job Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee daily bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Manage and maintain accounting systems to guarantee data integrity and compliance with accounting standards.
• Conduct detailed job costing analyses to track project expenses and profitability.
• Prepare, review, and analyze balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to support audits and financial reviews.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
• Provide leadership and guidance to accounting staff, fostering professional development and adherence to best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Proficiency in bank reconciliation, job costing, and general accounting principles.
• Strong knowledge of accounting systems and financial reporting standards.
• Experience preparing and analyzing balance sheets and other financial statements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent certification.
• Experience working remotely or in a home-based accounting role.
• Familiarity with advanced accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle.
