Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Accounting Officer to join a luxury lodge in Tanzania. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional with strong accounting, reporting and stock control experience who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and is passionate about maintaining exceptional financial standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate authorisation and allocation of business expenditure.
  • Process and record financial transactions accurately and timeously.
  • Prepare supplier payment requests and manage payment schedules.
  • Interpret and analyse management accounts.
  • Assist with payroll preparation and reconciliations.
  • Resolve general ledger and balance sheet reconciliation queries.
  • Maintain and update stock control records.
  • Prepare budgets and assist with quarterly forecasts.
  • Lead monthly finance meetings and report financial performance.
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation.
  • Reconcile inter-company and clearing accounts.
  • Maintain petty cash, company bank accounts and mobile wallet transactions.
  • Conduct stock takes, internal audits and spot checks.
  • Safeguard company assets and ensure strong internal financial controls.
  • Audit safari shop systems and financial processes.
  • Train lodge staff on accounting procedures and financial systems.
  • Support Front of House teams with financial system compliance.

Requirements

  • Three-year Finance Degree or relevant qualification.
  • CPA qualification will be advantageous.
  • 3–4 years' accounting experience, preferably within hospitality.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • PanStrat experience will be advantageous.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and question financial decisions where appropriate.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train and mentor colleagues.
  • High ethical standards with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
