ACCOUNTING OFFICER
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Officer to support the company’s day-to-day accounting and finance operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, handling accounting transactions, performing reconciliations, supporting month-end and year-end closing, and ensuring compliance with Singapore accounting and statutory requirements.
The candidate must be hands-on, organised, able to work independently, and capable of meeting strict deadlines in a fast-paced working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, cash receipts, payments, and bank transactions.
- Maintain accurate and complete accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Process invoices, payment vouchers, receipts, journal entries, and other accounting transactions.
- Perform bank, supplier, customer, and general ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies promptly.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare monthly schedules, management reports, and supporting documents for financial reporting.
- Monitor accounts receivable and payable balances and follow up on outstanding items.
- Assist in cash-flow monitoring and forecasting.
- Support payroll-related accounting and reconciliation activities.
- Assist in preparing GST returns and other statutory submissions where required.
- Ensure accounting records comply with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and company policies.
- Assist with annual statutory audits by preparing audit schedules and supporting documents and responding to auditors' queries.
- Maintain proper filing and documentation for all financial transactions to ensure a clear audit trail.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Identify accounting discrepancies, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Support improvements to accounting processes, systems, and internal controls.
- Liaise with auditors, tax agents, banks, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders when required.
- Ensure all accounting tasks and statutory deadlines are completed accurately and on time.
- Perform other accounting and finance duties or ad-hoc assignments as assigned by management.
Requirements & Skills
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in Singapore.
- Hands-on experience in full set of accounts will be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Good understanding of SFRS, GST, and Singapore statutory requirements.
- Experience with accounting software and financial systems.
- Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
- Strong reconciliation and financial analysis skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong numerical and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues independently.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Able to work under pressure and meet strict month-end, year-end, audit, and statutory deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Responsible, proactive, disciplined, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Singapore accounting experience is strongly preferred.
