Accounting Specialist II
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient processing of accounting records. They perform a variety of complex accounting tasks related to the processing of accounts payable and receivable transactions. The accounting specialist II works closely with management to mentor and train accounting staff and work towards improving processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished. There are many necessary activities to satisfy any of the following performance guidelines.
Process invoices through the use of the various receiving system exports and through data uploads into the financial system. Resolve complex issues using the various systems
Review and validate data for accuracy and integrity of financial reports
Prepare month-end accruals and reconcile accounts to the general ledger
Assist in month-end closing process
Prepare and process accounts payable or accounts receivable checks, wire transfers, ACH payments
Create and maintain various spreadsheets in an accurate, timely and professional manner
Assist in maintaining the accounts payable and receivable ERP systems
Work with internal and external customers to ensure accurate and timely processing of payable or receivable accounts
Participate on teams and cross-train in other accounting areas
Mentoring and training accounting specialists
Assist with audit fieldwork for both operational and financial audits
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: Associate’s degree in business administration or the equivalent experience
Desired: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or the equivalent experience
Experience
Four (4) or more years of prior accounting experience
Working knowledge of electronic receiving systems
