Accounting Specialist
NewBe an early applicantThe Accounting Specialist will play a key role in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely processing of transactions. This position will assist in accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, and auction-related settlements, while also supporting month-end close and reporting processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors to ensure efficient communication and service.
- Prepare auction settlement statements, ensuring timely and accurate payment disbursements.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure proper coding of expenses.
- Provide timely and professional responses to consignors regarding their payment status and details.
- Support Accounts Receivable operations by preparing invoices, recording payments, and assisting with collections as needed.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Maintain and organize accounting files and documentation in accordance with company policies and GAAP standards.
- Provide administrative support to the Controller and finance team as required.
- Assist with audit preparation and special projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 3–7 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, ideally in a retail, entertainment, or auction-related environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, Sage Intact, or similar accounting software.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with financial reporting tools.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
