GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, performs various para-professional accounting functions.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Performs daily cash receipting for multiple Town departments and ensures receipts are accurately
entered into the financial management system. - Prepares, balances, and reconciles daily cash reports, payment batches, and bank deposits.
- Performs Town-wide credit card processing and reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies as necessary.
- Performs accounts receivable functions, account reconciliations, journal entries, and other accounting support activities.
- Assists with month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations, processing utility billing, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
- Maintains accurate customer, financial, and accounting records in accordance with Town policies and records retention requirements.
- Assists with document digitization and records management initiatives.
- Serves as backup for accounts payable functions, including processing invoices and purchase orders, obtaining approvals, entering transactions, processing and distributing checks, maintaining vendor records, researching outstanding items, and providing documentation for the annual audit or as requested.
- Supports the integrity, values, and goals of the Town by maintaining professionalism and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Supports positive relationships between the Town and the public by demonstrating courteous, cooperative, and professional behavior when interacting with residents, businesses, visitors, elected officials, and Town staff.
